Rosa, the only UK-Wide Fund for Women and Girls, is delighted to host and manage the new Justiceand Equality Fund being launched today. Inspired by the phenominal #metoo campaign and TIME’S UP movement, this initiative is being launched by a group of women in the entertainment industry, in collaboration with women’s organisations and activists in the UK.
Research shows that over half of women in the UK have experienced sexual harassment at work, and this reflects cultural and systemic problems that need bold solutions. The new fund aims to bring an end to the culture of harassment, abuse and impunity by resourcing an expert network of advice, support and advocacy organisations and projects.
Samantha Rennie, Executive Director of Rosa said:
“We’re delighted to have helped catalyse this new fund. Tackling these endemic injustices that hold women back is vital to making Britain a safe, equitable place for everyone to live work and play. Women and their organisations have been battling these issues for decades, often isolated, underfunded and ignored. By joining forces with women in the entertainment industry, and across all sectors and professions, we hope to make 2018 a watershed year in creating a just, equitable society free from sexual harassment and violence.”
