On Tuesday 27th October 2015 Rosa, the UK Fund for Women and Girls, celebrated her seventh Birthday at a reception generously hosted by PwC in their beautiful offices overlooking the Thames. Almost 100 people from projects supported by Rosa, to national charity and corporate leaders, gathered to raise a glass in celebration of Rosa’s work, herald the next phase of development and cheer Rosa’s founding Chair, Maggie Baxter as she steps up into a new ambassadorial role.
In her short life, Rosa has raised and invested almost £400,000 in grassroots projects tackling gender inequality across the UK, and catalyzed some important changes for women at local and national levels. A new programme to give women a stronger voice in influencing change was announced on the night, and the launch of Rosa’s £1,000 Club was given a significant boost by an anonymous donor offering to match contributions up to a total of £20,000!
As well speeches from journalist, broadcaster and Rosa Ambassador Polly Toynbee and Executive Director Samantha Rennie, supporters received a message from Sarah Gavron, director of recent blockbuster Suffragettes who said:
“ The vote’s been won, but the struggle continues. Rosa supports the women who battle today’s injustices and is needed more than ever”
